Once you start seeing plastic everywhere it can become overwhelming to think, how can I possibly eliminate all these items from my life because they are packaged in plastic- I really want to , but how?
It is possible!
There are companies that use glass instead of plastic, which is awesome as glass is easily recycled! For example, deodorant has always been in cans ( spray on) or plastic ( roll-on) . Oh so Heavenly does refills for their roll-ons but those are packaged in plastic too- recyclable but still plastic.
I have found a great alternative: Apothecary creates glass jar deodorants which you apply by hand and in a beautiful range of scents that no normal roll-on actually comes in!
The stuff is super long lasting and actually works! I have the rose geranium and the smell is great- easy to apply with one finger just rub under your arms and wipe your hands afterwards. Simple and easy! The jar , once empty, can be used to carry small amounts of oil/ serum when you are travelling.
The other beauty item that is mostly in plastic are face creams. Naturals beauty creates the yummiest combination for day and night creams- Night cream is avocado and nothing bad ever happened if you involve an avo! The day cream is rooibos and vanilla- nothing more needs to be said. The jars are cute and sturdy- you can control how much you need and can put back if you take too much out! Great saving as each bottle costs about R86 and will last about 2-3 months.
